Description

ZZ TOP - FIRST ALBUM - PS 584 VINYL - FIRST PRESSING 1971
The album cover and inner sleeve are in vg+/excellent condition. I have also left on the original shrink wrap
The vinyl is in VG condition with some groove wear on either side. There are some light scratches that wont affect playback. The condition of the album is reflected in the asking price but please review the photos in detail before your purchase. It is still a good price given that this is a first pressing of this album.

The catalogue numbered matrix codes orrespond to a specific  first pressing of ZZ Top's debut album from 1971. This is a good quality example of a difficult to find first pressing from 1971.

  • Album Title: ZZ Top's First Album.
  • Release Year: 1971.
  • Label: London Records (Cat # PS 584).
  • Pressing Details:  The "PH" suffix indicates this copy was manufactured at the Philips Recording Company in Richmond, Indiana.
  • Matrix Numbers: SAHS 1587 is the master number for Side B.

  • Audio Mix: This original vinyl version features the original 1970 mix, which differs significantly from the 1987 remixes found on most later CD releases.
Collector's Notes
  • Original Mix vs. Remixes: Most CD versions of this album feature a controversial 1987 remix with "80s style" drums. The PS 584 vinyl contains the original, raw 1971 mix.
  • Pressing Variations: The PS 584 catalog number was used for several North American pressings in 1971, including those from the Terre Haute (TH) and All Disc (AL) plants.
  • Market Value: As of March 2026, original 1971 pressings in excellent condition are often valued between £60 and £185, depending on the specific pressing and condition.

The album sale will also include a new outer plastic sleeve and new anti-static/anti scratch inner sleeve and will be shipped in a 12-inch cardboard mailer specifically designed for the transport of vinyl records. Two internal layers of bubble wrap will also be applied to give more security during transport.

The original inner sleeve will also be included
