Description

Various Artists "Zabriskie Point"  Original Soundtrack

This is an original US vinyl pressing on MGM 4668  from 1970.     This is the stereo yellow label pressing, with a "DJ Not For Sale" sticker on the back cover.    It has songs by Pink Floyd, The Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia, The Kaleidoscope, The Youngbloods, John Fahey, Patti Page, and Roscoe Holcomb.     The three Pink Floyd songs are unique and can only be found on this soundtrack album.   ( they are from 1970 and may have been recorded before or during the recording of 'Atom Heart Mother'.   ( the cover and labels also mis-identify them as "The Pink Floyd", instead of Pink Floyd.)      The Jerry Garcia song is also unique to this soundtrack.

This movie was written and directed by Michelangelo Antonioni.   Executive producer is Harrison Starr.   Liner notes are by Mike Curb.  In the liner notes it says "the Rolling Stones, though not heard on this album, make an important contribution to the film".

Overall Condition is : Cover is VG+ /  Record is M

The cover is VG+.   There is a hint of ring wear and there is seam wear, but no seam splits.    The bottom right corner is bent and has wear.    There is no writing, but there are 2 tiny checks on the back cover by two song titles.    The vinyl looks mint and it plays mint.    The labels are clean with light spindle marks.  The record comes in an MGM inner sleeve.

The songs are :

Side one : 1. The Pink Floyd : 'Heart Beat, Pig Meat' ( a spacey drum heavy song with news reports instead of vocals).

2. The Kaleidoscope : 'Brother Mary'  (country rocker).

3. The Grateful Dead : 'Excerpts from 'Dark Star'  ( classic early psych from their first album).

4. The Pink Floyd : 'Crumbling Land' ( fast paced psych rocker).

5. Patti Page : 'Tennessee Waltz'  ( Her # 1 hit from 1950).

6. The Youngbloods : 'Sugar Babe' ( fast rocker with great harp).

Side two : 1. Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead : 'Love Scene'  ( amazing solo Jerry Garcia on electric guitar, rambling spacey blues).

2. Roscoe Holcomb : 'I Wish I Was A Single Girl Again ( banjo blues).

3. The Kaleidoscope : 'Mickey's Tune' ( instrumental country rocker).

4. John Fahey : 'Dance Of Death' ( solo acoustic blues)

5. The Pink Floyd : 'Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up'  ( long slow beginning then sudden screaming and heavy ending : just like an early version of "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" from "Ummagumma").

About Me :

I started collecting records in 1966.     I started selling in Goldmine in 1985.      I now sell records at all Northwest record conventions : Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Eugene, Grants Pass, and Canby.       And at Crossroads Music in Portland, Oregon.     My records are from a no smoking and no pets home.

Packaging :

I take great care on every package and I do each one personally.     I will package this record between two pieces of hand cut cardboard.     Each piece is 1/2 inch thick, triple strength industrial cardboard.       Together they are very strong and unbendable.   ( Even the postmen comment on how strong this cardboard is ! )       I always remove the record from the cover and seal them in a clear plastic sleeve.     The package will be marked in red : "Fragile Record" on both sides.

Postage :  Weight : 1 pound 5 ounces

You have to pay for the postage.     I pre-weigh every record, so that you pay the exact amount the post office charges.   There are no handling charges.     This record will weigh 21 ounces ( 1 pound, 5 ounces ) when ready to ship.   US bidders can figure out your own postage costs for US Priority or Media Mail.    All US winners will get shipping through Paypal and an automatic email with the tracking number.      Overseas bidders must use First Class Mail International.    You will get an automatic email with the customs/tracking number.      ( Buyers from Brazil must assume all risks for shipping to their country. )      I will send your record as soon as you pay ( same day if before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM : Monday thru Saturday)   I will combine shipping if you win more than one record.      Please wait for me to send you an invoice for all of your records in one package.

Serious Bidders Only :

Serious bidders only.    If you bid you must be prepared to honor your bid.     I expect payment within three days, but will wait up to seven days, if you contact me.      I no longer accept bids from buyers with more than two strikes against them.
