THE ZOMBIES - 'ODESSEY & ORACLE'
One of the rarest pressings of this incredible album, this SOUTH AFRICAN 1st stereo pressing dates from initial 1968 release and is on the black & silver Date label: DAS 2009: SLP 4623

Housed in a front laminated, bi-flipbck South African 'Interpak' printed cover.
Complete with its original plain white inner-sleeve.

A clean & undamaged set with just a collection of light spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.
Visual: VERY GOOD
Both playing surface are clean & bright but do display some light surface marks in strong daylight consistent with frequent handling & play. I found three small scratches on side 2 which could be felt beneath my fingertips but nothing else of any significance. Closer inspection directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp highlights the aforementioned wispy marks adding only some harmless stylus hairlines. Both sides of this extremely heavy disc lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: VERY GOOD +
Despite a frequent amout of play, the sound quality is high and free from any groove/playwear throughout. My careful play-check at volume revealed a touch of background crackle in some quieter passages, with the only significant audible distraction being a handful of moderate clicks on 'Butcher's Tale'. Certainly no jumps, repeats or anything else major. Tough to find in any condition.
Cover: VERY GOOD +
A very fragile affair constructed from very thin card and it is remarkable it has survived the past 43 years in the testing African environment. The front panel is clean, vibrant & unfaded with just some wrinkling in the laminate, which appears to be more from manufacture than from wear. There is light wear to the opening edges, but no heavy bumps or bruising to any corner. The rear panel is generally clean & unworn with some minor age-related blemishes but no writing or missing paper. Both flipbacks are fully intact and undamaged andf both seams & the fully worded spine are all smooth, unstressed & unworn.
