12" 33 RPM ACETATE of OSCAR BROWN JR. SLAVE STORY All numbers on this are performed by Mr Brown with piano accompaniment. Although it might perhaps have been performed as a one man show this acetate may have been used to get backing for it as a musical play.
THIS WELL MAY BE A MISSING PIECE OF NOT ONLY AMERICAN MUSICAL HISTORY BUT ALSO AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY. I CAN NOT FIND ANOTHER FULL RECORDING OF THIS MUSICAL ON LINE AND IT IS QUITE FABULOUS. YOU CAN HEAR THE 1ST 6 MINUTES IN MY YOUTUBE CLIP A LITTLE WAYS DOWN
Condition: VG- (would it be silly to write strong VG-) I have recorded the first 6 minutes below so you can hear it. This 6 minutes is about as good as it plays at times a little more staticky but the static never drowns out the music/story and I was more then entertained listening to it which I will explain but first I need to tell you that when I 1st played it the record repeated on the second song "Kato the Stud". I then tried playing it with the needle at a lighter setting (2) and as you can here below it never repeats.
I wrote that I more then enjoyed this because as you can hear from just the first 2 cuts it is enormously entertaining but the subject matter may make you cry, If it was shoved in my face I think I might have reacted with a stop blaming me (you can tell by my arms in the youtube video I'm white) my grandparents came from Russia. But Oscars Brown just tells the story and sings the songs with great, talent & wit and never judges, He just lays out the story and it is so effective. I hope whoever buys this has equipment to minimize static etc & record directly from the player (as opposed to my using the camera) because should really be put it online.
Oscar Brown, Jr (October 10, 1926 – May 29, 2005) was an American singer, songwriter, playwright, poet, civil rights activist, and actor. He ran unsuccessfully for office in both the Illinois state legislature and the U.S. Congress. Brown wrote at least 1,000 songs (only 125 have been published), twelve albums, and over a dozen musical plays.

NM: Near Mint. Record and cover appear virtually unmarked. Cover still in shrink.
VG++: A hair under NM may have only a couple of very insignificant surface only lines..
VG+: Used but not abused . Will likely have some relatively slight audible imperfections.
VG: Likely will have visual imperfections. There will be some audible imperfections.
VG-: Usually the lowest rating I will list an LP at. Same as VG but defects are more pronounced.
G+: Background sound is so loud that listening might be a chore.
100% ACCURACY IN GRADING RECORDS IS A JOB FOR SUPERMAN!
At times defects will show up differently on different players. For instance,
depending on the weight that a tone arm is set at or the quality of the stylus
what is just a pop on one player can sometimes be a skip on another
