Description
NB. Without doubt one of the most Collectable Worldwide "Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band" Pressing of SAM. To find a copy is difficult, but in N/MINT condition; [especially in MONO!!! ] with a beautiful sleeve to boot is certainly rarer than the US MONO Copies of "Safe As Milk" w Sticker fetching $300 to $500 on EBay in N/MINT Condition, this is quickly becoming the pressing to own!!! These are once in a lifetime records in GENUINE almost PRISINE Condition. Unbelievablty released before the UK Original w a 7" Single on Festival Records commanding similar money...
BEEFHEART / MAGIC BAND
SAFE AS MILK
'ULTRA RARE' 1966 AUSTRALIAN "MONO" LP!!!
ASTOR PLP1249
COVER - EX+
LABELS - M
VINYL - N/M
1967 Australian MONO Original SAFE AS MILK by CAPTAIN BEEFHEART & HIS MAGIC BAND on ASTOR PLP 1249. It is certainly one of the RAREST Versions of this INCREDIBLE Captain Beefheart LP. Pressed in Australia before the UK Pressing, I find it amazing it was released at all, as there certainly was no Local DJ championing the band as there was in the UK or an impending Tour to look forward to. It was along with the release of "Diddy Wah Diddy" on FESTIVAL LABEL almost certainly pressed. in very few copies!!!! I doubt very much if PROMO Copies exist (At least I've never seen or heard of one??) and MONO Copies are certainly FEW & FAR BETWEEN Making this the Australia's RAREST Beefheart Vinyl!!!
What is quite incredible is this copy has barely been played! As there were not state of the art HI FI's in Australia in 1966 , if it was played, it would show signs surely??? The COVER also is in GREAT SHAPE. It's De-Luxe GLOSSY COVER has just some very slight RING WEAR noticeable but little else to mark it down. Great edges, Fully readable spine & with glossy laminate cover.
