Description
1968 Capitol Records release (SMAS 2653) of The Beatles “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” vinyl record album. Jacksonville pressing. No “NEMS” or “MACLEN” on back of gatefold cover. Has its original cardboard insert. Record has been test played, and plays very cleanly. By visual inspection, vinyl appears to be in VG+ condition.
This record has the uncommon mispress on Side 2: SMAS 2 2653 W9 stamper was defective, causing loss of channels during "Good Morning, Good Morning" (horns, vocals). This gives the tune a uniqueness all its own when compared to the properly pressed version of the song. I've included a video sound clip with one of the examples of the channel loss during the song. After Lennon sings, "....but it's ok." you'd normally hear vocals singing, "Good morning, good morning" backed by horns. On this record's pressing, those sounds have been omitted throughout the song where they would normally be heard.
