cleaned on VPI. black/red label with van gelder stamp in dead wax. based on the music it seems likely that this is indeed the sound of the john coltrane quartet under the influence of LSD, as is widely supposed. plays m-.
this record comes from the first of two jazz collections comprised almost entirely of '50s & '60s original mono pressings & promotional copies to be auctioned by farmeralfalfa here on ebay over the next six months. the collections will list approximately fifty records at a time, organized by label &/or sub-genre. many atlantic, columbia, prestige, riverside & (eventually) blue note titles. if this sounds like your thing add farmeralfalfa to your favorite seller list. this week's focus is impulse & ESP with some additional associated titles.
