Three hour home-made video tape of rare television appearances of kd lang
On the tape are:
New Music - 1985
kd & The Reclines in concert at the Place Forum in Ontario in 1985 (possibly a MuchMusic concert). See a performance from kd's early days. Lots of different sounds, including songs from A Truly Western Experience, and some tributes to Patsy Cline. And a great dance contest!
Quality: Picture and sound are very fuzzy and not great. Possible 2nd generation copy and transferred from NTSC.
Still worth a watch regardless, a great performance!
Country Music: A New Tradition - 1988
kd performs a song from Shadowland and then a very funny duet with Roseanne Cash. Followed by kd getting down and dancing at the end of the show with Bill Monroe performing.
Quality: Picture and sound are excellent.
Worth watching for the duet and to see kd bopping along at the end!
Country Gold - ??
kd duets with Anne Murray on 'A Love Song'
Quality: Picture and sound both fuzzy, picture a little bright/bleached? Possible 2nd generation copy and transferred from NTSC.
Worth seeing though regardless... it's a very nice duet and they're both funny on this.
All You Get Is Me - 1990
kd in an interview with VH1, discusses the politics in country music and Nashville. Also, gender bending and Madonna amongst other things.
Quality: Picture a little bright/bleached? Possible 2nd generation copy and transferred from NTSC.
Interesting interview and lots of clips.
Rock Steady - 1990
kd & The Reclines in concert in London during the Absolute Torch & Twang tour.
Quality: Excellent picture and sound.
Again, worth seeing kd in early days but a little more polished (?) in her performance.
Ingénue: A MuchMusic Documentary - 1992
kd interviewed by MuchMusic's Terry David Mulligan. In-depth interview with kd about the new album and her life etc etc. Also, see brief clips of kd rehearsing and auditioning for the tour.
Quality: Picture a little bright/bleached? Possible 2nd generation copy and transferred from NTSC.
Really great interview, funny and insightful.
Brits Awards - 1993
kd duets with Andy Bell on 'Enough is Enough' at the 1993 Brits Awards.
Quality: Average picture and sound.
Great to see two of the best singers around performing together.
Heaven and Earth Show - 2004
kd is interviewed about her new album (Hymns of the 49th Parallel) and talks about coming out and her spirituality. kd also performs 'Hallelujah'.
Quality: Excellent picture and sound.
Nice little interview and another brilliant performance.
As you can see, some rare television appearances and a nice concise history of kd on one tape!

kd performs Pretty Woman with the super group 'Femme Fatales' (which includes Bonnie Raiit, Tina Weymouth, Emmy Lou Harris etc) created just for this special night.
Quality: Picture very wobbly and bent at top of sceen and a little bright/bleached. Sound also wobbily. Possible 2nd generation copy and transferred from NTSC.
Although the quality is not great, the performance is and it's great to see all these female performers really getting in to it.
