This is the last of a three part box set. Like the two that we have already offered, this set contains four LPs from the Chess archives (issued and unissued) that document the roots of Rock and Roll. Of the three, this set presents not just tracks from the stars (esp. Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy (II), Elmore James...), it presents talented musicians that were considerably less acclaimed; e.g. Ethel Mae, Forrest City Joe, Jackie Brenston, Harmonica Frank, Joe Hill Louis... In addition to these splendid tracts, the 18 page booklet (pictures, discography, history) is supplied by Mike Leadbitter.
The condition of the LPs is near mint (played only 1 time when they were copied onto tape.) One of them has a scratch near the center that does not in any way affect the recording; it is on that part of the LP devoid of music. The condition of the box is very good/excellent with wear around the edges.
** if you are a Blues collector, you will find we are putting hundreds of vintage blues LPs up for auction over the coming year. My husband is grudgingly downsizing his massive collection which he has acquired over the past 40 years and you should find these listings worth considering. Because he was the only owner of these LPs and he had too many to listen to, they were played very, very little and are all in excellent condition.
