Alexander takes on his white "cap'n" in one song and the Texas justice & educational systems ("accused me of forgery, and I cannot even write my name") in the other, In a somewhat contemporaneous but NOT original paper sleeve. On the LEVEE side, there are 2 edge chips THAT DO NOT COME WITHIN 1/8 inch of the grooves, located at 1:30 and at 6:35. I saw a single tiny needle drop on this side which my tone arm passed with little notice and with no problem. On the SECTION side, there is a 1/4 inch lamination or pressure crack in the blank lead-in of the record. It touches the first groove but does not extend into the groove. It is silent. There are no other cracks, lamination or otherwise. The disc is moderately rubbed with light scattered scratches. While there is a certain level of surface noise (no where near as loud as the singing or even the wonderful guitar), it is not bad. The sound recording and balance of voice and guitar (probably because someone else was playing the guitar) are really good. Even the LOUD passages do not cause the grooves or the recording level to stress out with distortion. I would say maybe 20-25% gloss remains but the sound is the main thing here. It comes across quite well. Using the "Spin Connection" grading system for 78s this would grade as a solid V+ NOTE: some of my scans may have what appear to be scratches and/or pencil scribbles but in actuality those are scratches on the glass bed of my scanner. Please see the scan of the plain green sheet of paper in order to identify them (though they may appear in the scans pointed or oriented differently than they are on the green paper). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ (the fine print ...
