scarce 1976 private press record on lasha's label birdseye (at this juncture he was spelling his name "lawsha"). lawsha, alto sax, flute, clarinet; hadley caliman, tenor sax, flute; bobby hutcherson, vibes; buster williams, bass; charles moffett, drums. i call it the northern california diaphanous sound, described well by yusef lateef in his impressionistic liner notes: "prepare for the beautiful weather when clouds travel in different directions at different heights. count on the soothing rain when FIREBIRDS huddle around the mountain tops & begin to descend."
