CREAM "Disraeli Gears" (Reaction 593 003) original UK 1967 MONO 1st pressing (textured blue/silver label)

CLASSIC PSYCHEDELIC ! Lovely copy of CREAM's classic album on the ever collectable REACTION label. This is the rarest earliest first MONO pressing:

1) First presses had fully laminated sleeves printed by "Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd." - on the reverse REACTION logo on bottom left is WHITE. Tracklisting for SIDE TWO is white, and catalogue number is printed solid black on top left.

2) This copy has A-1 B-1 first press matrixes (matrices?) but what makes it extra special are the "mother stamper" numbers - which both start with number "1" making this one of the very earliest made, indeed side two appears to be "1 1 1 1" making it the earliest possible pressing. Heavyweight vinyl.

An essential addition to any progressive psychedelic rock collection!

CONDITION : EX+ / side A = VG+ / side B = VG- (Sleeve/Record)

DESCRIPTION : On first inspection you think WOW! Because the vinyl and sleeve look superb - most Cream albums turn up utterly wrecked. However, while the album retains nearly all of its full sheen, there are a few surface scuffs and a few wee scratches which cause some problems. A1 has a light concentric mark (if you look closely) which causes a few light pops, other than that side one plays great - a few surface scuffs. But the audio is amazing - the sound really does just jump out at you - a REALLY LOUD cut album. Sounds AMAZING! Pretty much no background surface noise at all. Side B has a wee scratch on track B1, and sadly this causes a jump. Just the one. And a few light pops. B3 has a couple of tiny scratches which you can feel, but amazingly they play through with no real problem. "Clean" scratches, which obviously don't get down into the groove - and as mentioned this is cut really loud. Few pops on B6.

Labels are in excellent shape, no tears, writing etc. Just a few light spindle marks.

Sleeve is really nice, just a bit of very light wear. Sharp spine with text totally legible (for some reason this sleeve was made in two parts, with the front edge glued on up the spine - so it usually turns up with the spine totally rubbed away) - this is fully laminated so the colours just look incredible! Just a few very light lamination creases on the reverse - front is totally flat and crisp. No writing or marks etc.

So, to sum up, a VERY RARE example of a genuine first pressing - which while having a few tiny wee scratches, plays really great - with sadly one jump. A pretty decent copy, not one to store in a vault but for a serious music fan to enjoy.
