*** pioneering Pre-War Country Blues compilation ***
From the collection of a dutch female collector who sadly passed away years ago. Her records where kept by a family member. She started buying Jazz in the early 30s and expanded her taste to Blues when the first pioneering reissues were released in the 50s. She worked as a translator and for her job she traveled to France, Germany, Italy, England...picking up records along the way.
Here's the legendary Backwoods Blues compilation released in the UK in 1954. Produced by Bill Grauer, Jr. and Orrin Keepnews founders of Riverside Records. This together with their Blind Lemon Jefferson compilations of the same year were the first time hardcore Country Blues were made available to the public on LP. Besides owning the original 78s of course (something hardly anybody in Europe did).
The cover art was done by Blues historian/writter Paul Oliver.
The 78 rpm discs compiled here were originally released on Paramount and Champion records in the late 20s and early 30s.
