         Great words by great leaders from more than a half-century ago. This is a powerful recording. It will move you to think about love, life, and your own personal philosophies. You may well learn more about yourself. This is a mid-1950s gatefold double LP with commentary by newsman Edward R. Murrow. On this LP are the personal philosophies of 10 Living Americans and 10 immortals. Exceptional recording.

         *** The living Americans are: Bernard Baruch, Helen Hayes, Ralph Bunche, Charles H. Percy, Mrs. Marty Mann, Eleanor Roosevelt, Louis B. Seltzer, Helen Keller, Will Durant, and Carl Sandburg. 

            *** The 10 immortals are: Socrates, Lincoln, Florence Nightingale, Confucius, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Queen Victoria, Benjamin Franklin, Will Rogers, Marie Curie, and Gandhi.

       Edward R. "Ed" Murrow (April 25, 1908 - April 27, 1965) was an American journalist and media figure. He first came to prominence with a series of radio news broadcasts during World War II, which were followed by millions of listeners in the United States and Canada. Mainstream historians consider him among journalism's greatest figures; Murrow hired a top-flight cadre of war correspondents and was noted for honesty and integrity in delivering the news. A pioneer of television news broadcasting, Murrow produced a series of TV news reports that helped lead to the censure of Senator Joseph McCarthy.
