Description
Cool enough just to find one anyway, but this original 1985 Japanese issue Madonna (12") EP is in still sealed condition and with the dated Tower Records price-tag along with the Jem distribution sticker affixed to the back !!
Although Tower Records in their peak were the largest importer of Japanese vinyl themselves (through their Tower Records Imports sub-company aka TRIP) they would still occasionally buy some titles from a third-party importer, which is what you see here.
In Japan, these would not have been issued as a "sealed" item by Sire Records. But in this case the U.S. distributor Jem, (who also had a record label at the same time, Jem Records) would have sealed these before selling them to U.S. record stores (like Tower) for protective purposes, and at that time they would place their sticker over the shrink on the back. From the Tower Records price-tag we can tell that this was sold at their store #183 in Beaverton Oregon, which had restocked this copy in July of 1987, (since Jem must have still had some copies available at the time!), and they are listed on the tag as the distributor.
Japanese vinyl of this period is recognized as the highest general quality of the time, short of specially made audiophile pressings like those made by Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs, and this record has never been opened or played !!
