Condition: Vinyl record is quite excellent, plays very cleanly. Listen to the samples I made below. Samples are NOT cleaned up. Jacket shows surface wear, scratches and soiling. Top and bottom edges are pretty good, no seps, but spine edge has an inch-long stretch of damage at center. Inner liner is nearly flawless.
This obscure and interesting album has come to be recognized for being crammed full of funky drum breaks and is a master class in fine arranging and studio production.
Herb Bernstein was a very talented producer and arranger of major hits such as “See You in September,” “Go Away Little Girl,” “Knock Three Times,” “Leaving on a Jet Plane” and Laura Nyro's Grammy Hall of Fame album "More Than A New Discovery" which included such classic songs as "Wedding Bell Blues" and "Stoney End."
He arranged and produced records for many artists in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, including Bob Dylan, The Monkees, Tina Turner, Mitch Ryder, The Four Seasons, Laura Nyro, John Denver, Joel Grey, The Cowsills, Dusty Springfield, The Happenings, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Leslie Gore, Julie Budd, Lainie Kazan, Frankie Valli, Peaches & Herb, Patti Austin, Connie Francis, and Jimmy Roselli.
The album is almost entirely instrumental, but there's vocal accents added here and there by Toni Wine, and she is featured prominently on "Bang Bang."
The same year this album was released, Toni Wine joined The Archies and sang the female vocals on their #1 hit song "Sugar, Sugar." She also wrote "Candida," which she recorded with Linda November and Tony Orlando, followed by "Knock Three Times," which also became a major hit. She still tours with Tony Orlando today as a vocalist and keyboardist.
