Description
Up for auction is an original, mono Prestige album: Red Garland at the Prelude from 1959, featuring Garland on piano, Jimmy Rowser on bass, and Specs Wright on drums. The label has the black and yellow fireworks, the NJ address, deep grooves, and RVG stamped in the dead wax. Ex-radio DJ copy.
Sleeve: NM-, with a line of writing on the back in blue ink stating an acquisition date of "February 19, 1960" and a few track timings written in on the B-side. Also has an "ATT. DJ COPY not for sale" stamp in red from Prestige. Cover is shiny, seams are intact, no ringwear.
Record: NM-, barely the tiniest signs of wear on the B-side, including two faint scuffs in the first track; A-side likely unplayed. Includes the original, very brittle inner sleeve (a testament to the great shape it's in, surely).
Overall and amazing copy of this LP.
I am a university professor of music here in the US who inherited this and other records (Blue Note, Norgran, Impulse!, Columbia, Prestige, Fantasy, Riverside, etc.) from a collector and former radio DJ a few years back. I am looking to sell off some of these records to collectors/audiophiles who can get more enjoyment out of them than I can.
