factory sealed incredible rare private press
hippie psych-folk-rock lp
~ FOLLIES BAZAAR ~
dressed to thrill
from this very obscure acoustic / electric RURAL folk PSYCH rock collaborative group
out of URI [university of rhode island] in KINGSTON, RHODE ISLAND
hard-to-find self-released in 1980 on their own FOLLIES BAZAAR RECORDS
it was recorded 1979 at NORMANDY SOUND studios in WARREN rhode island by a
large entourage of guys and several chicks from the UNIVERSITY of RHODE ISLAND or
URI which was known for having had something called "HIGH NOON" where students would
gather and SMOKE WEED together at noon and this group sounds like high noon to us!
we should say that their songs were always really well done!
the writing, performances and the recordings themselves are all always great
these sorts of private press records are really cool, as they are done by college kids hanging
out having fun coming up with music influenced by the times that is artistically creative but with
great sub-culture underground ACID BASEMENT FOLK + sometimes TRIBAL happening feel
with FREE JAZZ elements + PROG but mostly based around acoustic/electric folk rock
includes credits and liner notes on back cover

not sure if any of these folks went on to greater things?
~ note ~
this copy is FACTORY SEALED and we aren't sure what this batch of songs are like
but other releases by this communal group tend to be strangely beautiful and amateur at
times with rural HIPPIE folk PSYCH jazz BLUEGRASS boogies and JAMS and
groovy mellow 70's rock elements
see our other auctions for a copies of some of these other records as well!
they sometimes feature some of the same musicians and definitely reflect the times
but all of them have a bit of a strange side to them, and are all interesting
this collective began in 1970 at URI as PERSPECTIVE and renamed FOLLIES BAZAAR after
releasing a few really amazing albums. records by both are listed in the HANS POKORA
books and the ACID ARCHIVES are highly sought after PRIVATE PRESS releases
the following are other related rhode island communal psych folk groups

CLOSELY WATCHED TRAINS
FOLLIES BAAZAR
RIGHT OF LITTLE REST
all of these records were privately pressed, and made in extremely small quantities
[usually just a couple hundred copies per release]
~ condition ~
this record is FACTORY SEALED with NO apparent flaws
but since we are not willing to open it and ruin its value as a vintage sealed record
we cannot guarantee any flaws inside the shrinkwrap - but we would assume that the record
inside is in MINT CONDITION with no flaws
