NM (Near Mint): Record plays perfect or darn close sleeve appears new in shrink.
VG++ : Looks and/or plays just short of NM
VG+ : Used but not abused. Will have some audible imperfections.
VG : Many only surface lines or may have a small scratch that doesn't skip.Background sound
but still enjoyable. Cover defects will be noted.
VG-: significant background sound from various defects but music always quite audible above it.
Cover has some damage that will be noted.
PLEASE NOTE: eBay does not offer "sealed" as a condition option, hence most eBayers list sealed records as "Mint". This can be misleading as Mint implies perfect. A brand new LP will not always play perfectly. Aside from factory defects or poor quality vinyl, new records that don't play Minty at first might play Minty with a good cleaning. New records often need to be cleaned because they are statically charged & will attract dust etc. Also new records can be contaminated with dust & grit from the factory or even some release agent from the manufacturing process.
