ELVIS COSTELLO  & The Attractions  ARMED FORCES  1979 Radarscope Records Rad 14 UK   MATRIX A2/B1
AUTOGRAPHED BY ELVIS COSTELLO STEVE NIEVE BRUCE THOMAS
ELVIS COSTELLO HAS ONE OF THE SLOPPIER AND INCONSISTANT AUTOGRAPHS I'VE SEEN. APPARENTLY HE USUALLY JUST QUICKLY SCRIBBLES THEM OFF.  THIS ONE HOWEVER IS ACTUALLY ONE OF THE MORE READABLE ONES I'VE SEEN. IT IS HOWEVER BLUE INK AGAINST A BLUE BACKGROUND SO IT DOES NOT STAND OUT BUT STILL IT IS STILL QUITE VISIBLE & A REAL NICE EARLY ELVIS C. I GOT IT FROM A BIG ELVIS C. FAN FROM WHOM I ALSO PURCHASED WHAT AT ONE TIME WAS THE HOLY GRAIL FOR ELVIS COLLECTORS THE UNOFFICIAL LP ( HATE YOU LIVE  ) WHICH I ALREADY SOLD ON EBAY .
VINYL:  has a tiny defect i couldn't actually find at the very end of "Senior Service". On 2 of my players it had no effect but on the the one with the newest & better stylus during Elvis's last "OOOOs" one repeats once or twice before going on. otherwise it plays a strong VG++
SLEEVE: VG++
Apparently early copies of this came with a free promo 45. I don't know if this one did or not but it is not in this auction.
Side one

  1. "Accidents Will Happen" – 3:00
  2. "Senior Service" – 2:17
  3. "Oliver's Army" – 2:58
  4. "Big Boys" – 2:54
  5. "Green Shirt" – 2:42
  6. "Party Girl" – 3:20
Side two
  1. "Goon Squad" – 3:14
  2. "Busy Bodies" – 3:33
  3. "Sunday's Best" – 3:22
  4. "Moods for Moderns" – 2:48
  5. "Chemistry Class" – 2:55
  6. "Two Little Hitlers" – 3:18

Armed Forces is Elvis Costello's third album, his second with the Attractions, and the first to officially credit the Attractions on the cover. It was released in the UK by Radar Records and in the U.S. by Columbia in 1979. The album had the working title Emotional Fascism.

Initial pressings of the album in the UK and U.S. included a promotional three-song single, Live at Hollywood High, which was recorded on 4 June 1978. The live tracks, also produced by Nick Lowe, are "Accidents Will Happen," "Alison," and "Watching the Detectives". The UK edition included 4 postcards featuring pictures of the band. The American version omitted "Sunday's Best" and instead included Costello's version of "(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding", which had been released the previous November as the B-side of Nick Lowe's "American Squirm" single, at the end of side two.

The album has appeared on Q magazine and Rolling Stone magazine lists of "greatest albums". In the 1982 film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Elliott's brother, Michael (played by Robert MacNaughton), sings "Accidents Will Happen" in the family kitchen after coming home from school.[2]

HOW I PACK FOR LPs FOR INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
To keep the price of international shipping of 1 LP at $15.00 I don’t charge for packaging costs but I need to keep the weight within 1lb. I use professional Lp mailers & in addition I usually use a light but hard foam stiffener. Sometimes I will use 1 piece of cardbord. I take the record out of the jacket if there is a possibility it might split.  I don't recall ever having any problems shipping this way. If you would like me to ship differently you must contact me before you pay so I can invoice you for any extras costs.
