Description
The Beatles
Please Please Me
This is a copy of "Please Please Me" By The Beatles
I believe this is a 2nd Issue.
And is one of the first pressings in the Black/Yellow style "Parlophone" Labels
I have listed some details that I hope will help you identify this copy
- STEREO
- 1963
- The Label is the typical 1960's Black & Yellow, with "PARLOPHONE" in yellow.
- with "The Parlophone Co. Ltd." in the rim print.
- There is no printed slogan across the middle of the label on this issue.(see photo)
- Cover Printed by Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd.
- "33 1/3 RPM" instead of "Recording first published 1963" on the label.
(typical of the transitional period from the earlier Black and Gold Labels. In 1964, legalities forced Parlophone to add a "resale statement" to their records.
All Parlophone LP's produced between 1964 and late 1965 will have The Parlophone Co. Ltd. in the rim print and will have the Sold in UK message across the middle of the label.) - Songs credited to Northern Songs Ltd, apart from "Please Please Me" which is credited to Dick James Mus. Co
Catalogue Number: PCS 3042
Side 1 = YEX 94-1
Side 2 = YEX 95-1
The Cover shows a bit of wear and tear, but not bad considering it's age!
The Vinyl plays well but has some surface marks
