this album cover and record was produced in 1956 as a 1st release of this great movie it coincided with the mgm 1st television release of the wizard of oz. although the movie has been out since 1939 at theaters and decca and others produced some 78's they were not original as this one. this record was recorded from the original movie soundtrack and is 40 minutes long ,just 32 minutes short of the entire movie which was 112 minutes long. thats why it is considerd the 1st original recording for the movie. there has been other issues released after this one as reissues such as the same cover but on a black mgm label and the list goes on through the years. other countries had produced this record to be sold in there country but this one hit the market 1st for the u.s. market,from a u.s.a. film being broadcast on t.v. for the 1st time.AN THATS WHY MOST UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS THE 1ST ORIGINAL.
