This ultra-rare original 1976 Sex Pistols ‘Screen on The Green’ concert flyer is an almost impossible to find piece of Punk Rock / Sex Pistols History!
The Screen On The Green cinema is probably most widely known for this 'Midnight Special' gig was held on Sunday 29 August 1976 when The Sex Pistols played live and were supported by The Clash and The Buzzcocks in a showcase event organized by Malcolm Maclaren. This was notable for many reasons including, it was only The Clash's third gig and the first ever to be recorded, and is the earliest known (after the Manchester Free Trade Hall concert from April 1976) recorded performance and a rare recording of The Sex Pistols with Glen Matlock.
The Screen on The Green was also the location for the first performance of Sid Vicious with the Sex Pistols, on April 3, 1977, following the dismissal of Matlock from the band. The cinema is referenced throughout Adam and the Ants' song "Fall in" - released as the b side to "Ant Music" in 1980.
The flyer is not in the best of shape, but it is over 40 years old, and as I said earlier such a fantastic piece of memorabilia from the start of the Punk movement. I have had it professionally framed to protect it from further deterioration. Letter from original owner is attached to the back of the frame.
Last one of these that I saw admittedly in better condition sold for over £700
