Description
Extremely rare holy grail compilation of country blues on Origin Jazz Library out of Berkeley. No date on the comp, but I'd guess early-60's or maybe even the 50's. The recordings span 1902 to 1942. Features Son House, Skip James, Tommy Johnson, Sam Collins, George "Bullet" Williams, Henry Thomas, Ishman Bracey, William Moore, Garfield Akers, Henry Sims, Buster Johnson, and Sunny Boy and his Pals. Lyrics and very minimal liner notes that don't reveal much, other than this stuff came from the collection of Robert Travis, produced by Bill Givens, the lyrics were transcribed by Dave Evans, and "Discography Based on Blues and Gospel Records 1902 to 1942"
The outer cover shows some discoloration and minor seam wear - no splits....actually, holding up pretty nicely for its age. The vinyl is a BEAUTIFUL NEAR-MINT with one or two superficial paper scuffs that DO NOT IMPACT PLAY! Really, it's rare that you see one of these comps in this kind of condition.
I will be mailing the records in tight record-mailers with spacers and padding when needed. Please check my other auctions!
Shipping in the states is $4 with delivery confirmation #. Overseas shipping is $13 for international first class. Canada is $8 for international first class. I encourage international buyers/bidders and rarely have any issues, but please read: Only stateside shipping gets a true delivery confirmation #, but overseas buyers/bidders can request the # on the customs form - IT WILL ONLY PROVE THAT I MAILED THE PACKAGE AND WILL NOT TRACE THE PACKAGE PAST THE AMERICAN BORDER....Or international bidders/buyers can pay $30 per item for registered mail, which I do not recommend. I only state this because several recent international buyers have gotten upset when all I can give them is the # on the custom's form, which is basically a "shipping confirmation #"...... "But you said you'd have a delivery confirmation #!" No, I said that re: the stateside transactions. Thanks.
