Description
This is a united states east coast mono 1st press (V5008) of the velvet's debut lp.
The original 1st pressing is the band's own true mono mix, when the album was reissued without the torso the mix was substituted for a mono mixdown of the stereo mix. This original mono mix is by far the best and (more importantly) was the way the band intended us to hear it.
This has the torso on the back cover with the black & white banner across.
Although the banana has been peeled on this copy the sleeve is in great condition. There are areas on the outside where the white has darkened (to be honest I haven't personally seen a copy that doesn't have this - I think it's common on american 60s records) but otherwise it's excellent. The spine is still square, solid and undamaged and the inside of the gatefold is as good as new.
It still has the original Verve inner bag which is perfect apart from a 2 inch split on the bottom which has been taped.
The vinyl is beautiful. I found three slight hairline marks overall which you cannot hear - I think they're from sleeve removal. The sound is great and the vinyl is clear and bright.
