Description
vinyl LP: GENE VINCENT "Bluejean Bop" (Capitol T 764) original TURQUOISE LABEL UK 1956 pressing "FACTORY SAMPLE"
Classic debut album, definite first UK pressing. The label has a "FACTORY SAMPLE - NOT FOR SALE" sticker on side 2. This record did NOT come with a sleeve, the collection which it came from ALL had covers and many were promos, leading me to believe that this FACTORY SAMPLE was manufactured before the sleeve had been printed. Once the samples had been approved, the manufacture including sleeve would commence. It comes in a vintage brown plain sleeve with "GENE VINCENT" handwritten in the corner.
Even more interesting is the 2-sided typed A4 insert with what are probably the forthcoming sleevenotes on one side ("bio notes"), and a list of "matrix numbers" for each track. The sheet is headed "CAPITOL RELEASES 142 - FRIDAY NOVEMBER 9TH, 1956". The sheet is slightly yellowed with age, with light "flocking".
A very interesting artefact indeed, probably only a handful of these were made and I'm sure the insert may be one of the only ones surviving... A great addition to any serious rock'n'roll collection. No reserve and low starting bid - good luck!
