Description
I found this item today at an estate sale in Los Angeles.
It is a one-sided 10" acetate that features seven different 60-second radio spots/radio commercials for various different albums released on Dunhill Records in 1969.
All of the artists are Dunhill Records artists:
1. A 60-second radio commercial for Richard Harris' "A Tramp Shining" album, that features a spoken word announcer and snippets of songs from the album.
2. A 60-second radio commercial for Three Dog Night's "Suitable For Framing" album, that features a spoken word announcer and snippets of songs from the album (“Lady Samantha” by pre-fame Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Laura Nyro's Eli's Coming, Celebrate, others).
3. A 60-second radio commercial for a various artists album released on Dunhill entitled "A Treasury of Great Contemporary Hits", that features snippets of songs by various Dunhill hit artists.
4. A 60-second radio commercial for Steppenwolf's "At Your Birthday Party" album, that features a spoken word announcer and snippets of songs from the album.
5. A 60-second radio commercial for The Grass Roots' "Lovin' Things" album, that features a spoken word announcer and snippets of songs from the album.
6. A 60-second radio commercial for the British prog/progressive rock band Colosseum's album "Those Who Are About To Die Salute You", that features a spoken word announcer and snippets of songs from the album.
7. A 60-second radio commercial for Mama Cass Elliott's "Bubblegum, Lemonade & Something For Mama" album, that features a spoken word announcer and snippets of songs from the album.
DISC CONDITION:
The disc has some visible scratches, and also a visible edge warp that affects the beginning of the side. You can hear a slight "whoosh" sound when the needle passes over the warp at the beginning before the first track, and after the first track ONLY, but it is not overpowering, and once the commercials and sound kick in, you can't really hear it. Also, this warp does NOT cause the record to skip on my turntable. The warp smooths out after the second commercial.
You will hear some light crackle here and there between the tracks, but the disc plays all the way through without any skips.
The front label area is blank, but someone glued their business card to the spindle area, as seen in photos. I tried to google both the name and company, and nothing came up. Perhaps they were a company that created these commercials for various record companies? I cannot say for sure.
This disc is not "banded" - the seven different radio commercials play one after another, with only a brief silence between.
