Up for auction is the very rare original 1st stereo pressing of The Psychedelic Sounds of the Thirteenth Floor Elevators LP on the International Artists label, (LP 1-A No. 1, Stereo), from 1968 (No ‘Masterfonics’ in dead wax). This classic psychedelic album, features the sounds of the Austin, Texas-based Elevators as led by front man Roky Erickson and produced by, of all people, Kenny Rogers’ brother Leland. Songs include: You’re Gonna Miss Me, Roller Coaster, Splash 1, Reverberation (Doubt), Don’t Fall Down, Fire Engine, Thru the Rhythm, You Don’t Know, Kingdom of Heaven, Monkey Island, Tried to Hide.
This album is opened, but still housed in the original shrink-wrap! Using conservative Goldmine ratings standards, the cover is in very good + condition; with no side splits, ring wear, or writing, and only a few light age marks (Most marks visible in the picture of cover back are on the shrink wrap). The disc is in near mint condition and is still perfectly flat. This is a record that was played infrequently and was well cared for. It would make a great addition to the collection of any fan of the Elevators, early psychedelia, or Texas music in general.
