Description

The 13th Floor Elevators 33 1/3 RPM LP (see photo for labels)

Records in this lot are:
  • Thirteenth Floor Elevators -- Psychedelic Sounds -- Label: International Artists -- Record#: Stereo L.P. - 1 A - No. 1
Description: If you are a fan of psych music, you have found a very unique offering. My price guide shows a copy in Near Mint condition with aqua blue labels is valued at $200, a copy in VG+(excellent) $100, and a copy in VG condition $50. I did not find "Psychedelic Sounds" printed on the labels, but the record# matched up with the one in my price guide. Not sure why they did that. My price guide notes that there are 3 versions of this stereo LP. One has an all-yellow label and has a Near Mint value of $150. A second has an aqua-blue label with a Near Mint value of $200. The third is a repressing with "Masterfonics" in the trailing wax which has a Near Mint value of $30. This copy does not have Masterfonics in the trailing wax. Frankly, I think the labels look a bit more green than aqua, but I am not a good judge of colors. I have seen a copy that has labels that have more blue in them than this and that has more graphics on the back cover. This back cover does seem to match up with one that recently sold for $79.99 on e-bay. Enough of my rambling, you be your own judge.

Please check my other listings to save postage on multiple winning bids. Please explore the "Me" link above to check out my store and some of the 10,000 records I have for sale.

A couple unique things about this record is how well it plays (see comments below) and that it comes with a heavy, protective vinyl sleeve. The back cover notes "Printing by Tanner 'N' Texas, Inc. - 1422 West Poplar Street, San Antonio, Texas 78207." IALP - 1 - A is found in the trailing wax on the first side. IALP - 1 - B is in the trailing wax on side B. No other notations found in the trailing wax.

I am using the Goldmine scale of G=Good, VG = Very Good, VG+ = Very Good Plus(excellent), NM = Near Mint when grading this record. It was thoroughly, but gently cleaned before playing. This record retains the original shine.

Here is a summary of the record:

Title: 13th Floor Elevators Record: -Original shine. No visible scratches, a couple light marks if you catch it in the right light. Labels: No stickers, no writing, no spindle marks. Inner Sleeve: Generic, white one in fine shape. Cover: RATED between VG and VG+(excellent) Slight general/ring wear on the back. A couple very short crinkles off the edges on the front, a 2-3" crinkle lower front right. No writing, no stickers, no seam splits. Comments: The audio quality of these tracks was outstanding. The tracks ranged in quality from one track with a light pop and some very, very light background noise (VG+/NM) to four tracks with nothing wrong at all(Near Mint). The other five played with just a slight trace of very, very light background noise (an eyelash below Near Mint). Averaging these tracks out, audibly rate this record between VG+(excellent) and Near Mint, closer to Near Mint. Tracks on this album include:
  • Side 1:
    1. You're Gonna Miss Me
    2. Roller Coaster
    3. Splash 1
    4. Reverberation
    5. Don't Fall Down
  • Side 2:
    1. Fire Engine
    2. Thru the Rhythm
    3. You don't Know
    4. Kingdom of Heaven
    5. Monkey Island
    6. Tried to Hide
