Description
Here's a 16 inch transcription disc / record from the 1950s. The program is Country Hoedown and is a country music program presented by the US Navy. Artists are recorded in front of a live audience with some patter between songs. Also the artists read recruiting promotions for the military.
This particular program features Sons of the Pioneers on program 59B and Merle Travis on program 60B.
The format typically has the featured guest perform three songs and the master of ceremonies perform one song. Record is in very nice condition.
These records were delivered to, and played on radio stations before the more common use of audio tape and consequently, were only played once. Record speed is 33 1/3 rpm.
You will need a record player capable of playing 16 inch records, commonly called "transcription records".
