This was the very first official release, being released on the 22nd of March 1963 (MONO version) and later on the 26th of April 1963 (STEREO version). The Lp reached number one in; Disc Weekly, Melody Maker,  New Musical Express and The Record Retailer in the UK. Only to be knocked off by their next album With The Beatles.

 Amazingly the songs, which were taken from their first two singles and included a further ten songs, were all recorded in one marathon session at Abbey Road Studios. John wasn't feeling too well and got throught the 3 sessions in the one day by having milk, tea and Zubes lozenges....

I have never come across a true 5th pressing with this weight.

 Gorgeous, heavy vinyl.
I have just finished listening to all of her and found VERY LITTLE background noise, she played through with a superb rich deep bass reproduction with clear peaks too. I was very surprised at the wonderfull clear quality audio as she does carry a lot of light marks as well as a few scuffs...But certainly nothing to make her jump or skip on my Focus One deck, fitted with SME arm and an Audio Technica stylus.

 There is some light wear to this cover....
A small amount of spidering emanating from the seams and some wrinkles showing part of the records outline..Nothing to worry about.
There is some knocking to the corners, with the top right carrying a split.
The EJ Day flipbacks are in very good condition, however the top flipback has come away and was once taped, as with the top right corner to the back missing a small patch of flipback. They remain in good solid condition.
STRONG INTACT & LEGIBLE SPINE
Small 4cm split to the bottom seem.
Small patch of lifting to the back card.
SUPERB SPINE
Heavy card.
