Description

  "Tiger Rag" is a jazz standard, originally copyrighted (1916) and recorded for Aeolian-Vocalian Records on 17 August 1917 by the Original Dixieland Jass Band (The band did not use the JAZZ spelling until later in 1917).  THIS IS THAT HISTORIC RECORDING.  It is one of the most recorded jazz compositions of all time.   This is titled "Tiger Rag One-Step Written and Played by Original Dixieland Jass Band", backed with "Ostrich Walk".  The Aeolian Vocalion sides did not sell well, as they were recorded in a vertical cut format becoming obsolete at the time which could not be played successfully on most contemporary phonographs.   I do not possess the equipment to play this recording, but visually, it appears to be perfect.  I see no scratches or marks across any of the grooves on either side.  It is extremely difficult to find this recording, and almost impossible to find in this condition.   As with all records, grading is subjective.  I used the VJM Grading System to the best of my ability.
