*** 1927 proto Gypsy-Jazz classics ***
Original 1927 UK "purple label" Parlophone pressing (The US issue of the same year is on Okeh, who also made these recordings). note: the labels look much more blue in the pictures, somehow our camera can't catch the purple color very well.
Both sides are as with all Venuti-Lang recordings of the highest calibre, but Goin' Places is just extra, extra Hot. Goin' Places is a tour de force of guitar and violin interwoven by some terrific piano playing by Arthur Schutt (no chump either). Recorded New York, May 4, 1927.

Do note that these 78s are all recorded with a modern Stanton USB turntable. The Stanton is a expensive motha but really sounds like crap! All these sound so much better on our old early 60s Lenco player. The Stanton makes all the ticks and crackle sound worse and more metalic.
