The record jacket is beautiful. It's a photo of a bicycle with a basket behind a fence. All in green. The jacket could be framed itself! Cover photograph and design were by Burt Goldblatt (his name appears on front lower right hand side of jacket). The words "Storyville LP 323" appears on the front upper right-hand side in white. On the backside of the jacket you'll find an early photo (by Popsie) of Lee Konitz.
Background: Lee Konitz (born October 13, 1927) is an American Jazz Composer and alto saxophonist who was born in Chicago, Illinois. Generally considered one of the main figures in the "Cool Jazz Movement", Konitz has also performed successfully in bebop and avant-garde settings. Konitz was one of the few altoists to retain a distinctive sound when Charlie Parker exercised a tremendous influence on other players. Konitz has been quite prolific, recording dozens of albums as a band leader. He has also recorded and/or performed with the likes of Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, Charles Mingus, Gerry Mulligan, Elvin Jones and others*. *(Excerpt from Wikipedia)
CONDITION The condition of the record is VERY GOOD + with some signs of light wear. The jacket is in excellent condition with very light shelf wear on the back. This item came from a non-smoking environment.
REVISED CONDITION EXPLAINED: I recently had an expert at an area record store evaluate the condition of this record. This expert has been dealing in rare and collectable records for over 25 years. I am not an expert on grading records so my previous assessment of the condition as good was intended to err on the side of caution. I certainly did not want the buyer to have the wrong impression of the condition.
