1958 Molly O Day Columbia Hall of Fame EP (Tramp on the Street + 3)
Molly O’Day and the Cumberland Mountain Folks – Columbia Hall of Fame Series (Columbia B-2826). This 1958 release includes 4 cut s by the Kentucky born singer (nee Lois LaVerne Williamson) who was a pioneer country and traditional mountain music artist. Her 1946 band, The Cumberland Mountain Folk, signed a recording contract with Columbia Records. Molly O'Day & The Cumberland Mountain Folks made their first recordings on December 16, 1946. On these first recordings, bluegrass legend Mac Wiseman appeared on bass. During her first years as a recording artist Molly O'Day's popularity increased but she started to have doubts about her life's choice. By 1951 she had made her last recording session for Columbia Records. Cuts on this EP include, “The Tramp on the Street”; “Don’t Sell Daddy Anymore Whiskey”; “The Black Sheep Returned to the Fold”; and “Matthew Twenty-Four.” Record is in strong VG+ to M- condition and cover is in VG+ condition. Postage will be paid by purchaser.
