Description
1961 Philips SABL 193 (or 835 574 AY) Kurt Weill's Happy End featuring Lotte Lenya singing lyrics by Bertolt Brecht. Lenya really takes hold of this performance, as she is the producer as well as the soloist with a Chorus and Orchestra. Weill thought this was his major achievement of the era, and the subtlety of the writing is there to be understood if you have the ears for it, this subtle and tuneful piece of modernism. Curved Hifi Stereo labels and logos to sleeve first pressing anywhere issue. This is conducted by Wilhelm Bruckner -Ruggeberg. This is a high point of 20th century art music, all rolled in to one very collectable first edition. Includes the original lyric insert.
