1967 - the dawning of the SUMMER OF LOVE in San Francisco:
An iconic delving into the very mystery of music itself with melodic electric narratives of the human condition during the psychic upheaval of the times that rendered this hippie historic audible document of the "Summer Of Love" of 1967 - a cornerstone of psychedelic rock, the LP that painted the mood of the Haight-Ashbury scene, the album that put the west coast on the rock map, one of those albums whose expiremental and passionate explorations in music rivaled that of the BEATLES' Sgt. Peppers. This LP let's it all hang out in a groovy style that launched The Summer Of Love with unbridled feeling - it was a special moment in music.
This masterpiece of the 60's defines what the "summer of love" was all about and defined what the people were fighting for - FREEDOM, JOY, and PEACE!!
Coming Back to Me features Jerry Garcia from GRATEFUL DEAD - one of the most beautiful and soothing songs of the 60's. She Has Funny Cars sets the mood for the LP by opening with Grace Slick's distinctive voice almost providing many variations of beautiful sounds only this band can bring to fruition. White Rabbit -Grace Slick's Classic Scream for change and exploration into a world of psychedelic drugs and other-worldy visions that defined the gestalt of the 60's and the HIPPIE mindset. Jefferson Airplane's efforts blazed a trail that perplexed and put in context the troubled happenings of a disadvantaged and painful youth that sought to go "AWOL" in war, drugs, and rock and roll. They were willingly "DRAFTED" into this hypnotic music through a magnetic force field whose time had come and at the right time that drew one into a world that put a face on something unpercieved yet yearned for by the Youth and their attitudes defined the "Summer of Love." CONDITION: I've listed this collectible with multiple pics complete with ZOOM to offer a forthright representation of item - thus item is as seen as is which is pretty darn impressive. I'd give it a high grade on the vinyl but I don't want to give it a definite grade as no two graders would exactly agree based on their differing experience, in-born prejudices, hearing ability, and interpreting equipment (system that translates sound to human ears.
The Cover: is solid all over, a collectible cover with minor wear along the edges and a ding lower left. A pretty Clean over front & back with no writing marks and with bright original colors with no split seams - an over-all nice copy, esp. considering the age of the collectible. There is the expected wear along the seams and in the corners of course.
Vinyl: Both sides retain original gloss looks VERY clean for a '67 MONO 1st printing. I have played this vinyl to much joy, almost too much to sell, but I tend to have minor "hullucinations" when listening to said album as my mind is very graphically-oriented thanks to reading "spirit" comics and thus to me it plays very vibrantly and the gentle tamborine in the back is so soft that I feel it is coming from behind me. I have experienced very minimal background noise, and that is on side 2 where a minor 1" light mark or scuff exists. But even then I had to be very observant, almost nit-picky and focusing on that, at the expense of catching the subtle layering of the instruments, but when I focused on a hiss or crackling, it was minor and only rarely usurped. But when I focused on the tamborine it came to life and I missed the forest for the trees. And my machine is a technics complete with sansui speakers with 3 way switches. I put my large fountain on while playing my LP's to offer a gentle white noise to block out the outside cars noise and neighbors doings. Also, my system allows me to adjust weight of needle and speaker out-put, which can help find a cleaner sound if needed. VERY BRIGHT & CLEAN RCA Victor labels.
Will ship asap in protective cardbaord mailer with orig. vinyl in separate generic cover to protect orig. cover during shipping.
I have played this vinyl to much enjoyment on my technics turn-table with sansui speakers - it played clear and vibrant with no adjustments of needle weight that I usually have to adjust on other lp's to derive the best performance.
