Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +21,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. • SUPER RARE original PRIVATE PRESS from 1968 ... the album was so good that ATCO Records (major label) signed the group and immediately released THIS album, but over-did a new production, yes, a far inferior version with only a single-fold cover and with studio additions like strings/horns enhancements. YET here is the straight ahead group song mixes, all raw & dynamic without any backing studio arrangements.

  • THE CHILDREN
  • a Rare 1968 psychedelic recording from the legendary  San Antonio group, an offshoot of "The Mind's Eye" The re-release on ATCO RECORDS is rare enough, but this is the original on the private Cinema label from Texas.
  • The Atco Records issue has a completely different (INFERIOR) mix, the production team at Atco, completely wrecked the recording with added arrangements, while THIS the first Cinema Records issue gives you the original un-doctored psychedelic garage sound as it was intended to be - far superior and rates as a great collectible easily getting three-$$$ figures in collector circles....

The first half of "Rebirth" is a rather phenomenal document: mood-driven and densely textured psychedelia at its very best. "Daybreak" opens the album with what seems to be a fairly quaint ditty until its controlled eruptions of orchestration, unique and enticing, cause the music to grow in dimension. "Maypole" also initially leans toward preciousness, the themes of childhood naïveté employed by dozens of bands in the wake of Sgt. Pepper's, but in its seesawing-calliope backing and minor-key shifts there is also something compellingly creepy that resonates more of shadows than innocence. It leads wonderfully into "Don't Ever Lose It," a macabre fairy tale as enigmatically disorienting as it is rocking, and the delicate "Beautiful," which (particularly owing to Stephen Perron's haunting vocals) lives up to its title in the spookiest of ways. "Sitting on a Flower," a Cassell Webb showcase, is also powerful stuff. The album's only significant failing is a tendency during its last half to lose sight of the experience it means to convey. The honky-tonk parody "Military School" (which is quite interesting musically) may be a timely parable of the imbroglio in Vietnam, but it feels like an alien presence on the album, as does the goofy "I Got Involved," more akin to a 1930s radio commercial. The album rights itself nicely with "Pictorial," an epic, enveloping piece of acid dementia, and the equally fierce "Dreaming Slave," with its funky bursts of vibey jazz. Regardless of its flaws, Rebirth proves the Children to be one of the finest and most fascinating forgotten bands of the era...
