We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. INCLUDES the original (rare) Grand Funk Phoenix large sticker which was originally issued on the outside cellophane of first pressings ...most stickers were lost when folks tore off the cellophane to their first pressings back in the early '70s.
PHOENIX ...An excellent heavy-Funk release with some grooving Hammand organ and blistering guitar solo's. "Nobody told me she was only 14 years old, How was I to know?" ('She Got to Move Me') == Well I guess you could ask her for a start. And check out the driving cowbell on 'Rock'n'Roll Soul' and the gushing Hammond organ on 'Flight of the Phoenix' ...Nice... The reference to phoenix the mythological bird can only mean the band was now trying to survive and stay relevant after having left the production umbrella of former manager Terry Knight who had an ugly court battle with the band. With keyboard’s man Craig Frost as a full-time member- not credited as such yet featured all over the album - who besides the organ, which Farner had often used in the past to enhance many songs, also doubles on clavinet, harpsichord or piano , the group now clearly has a broader tonal palette to work with which necessarily implies a richer sound and the band ultimately deliver a strong album, which starts nicely with an unusual and steaming jammer, "Flight Of The Phoenix", driven by Farner’s Vincent Crane-like organ (did he really need an extra keyboards player in the studio?) and includes several other powerful cuts mixing chunky Funk grooves with appeasing passages of shimmering keys and guitar arpeggios on “Trying to Get Away” or when going into mean Boogie rocker mode as on “I just Gotta Know”, and you can’t ignore the anthem potential of the slowly building “Freedom Is For Children” ... elsewhere, the guitar and organ interaction work out fine as on the funky blues of “Gotta Find a Better Way” ...All in all, the mighty power of Northern steel was just about to hit superstardom for the second time, showing there’s always two sides to a coin, and in this process they eventually earned some new fans. "Rock 'n Roll Soul" which finishes the album, however serves notice to all GFR fans they still "crunch" with the best. Phoenix is different no doubt, but Grand Funk still "soars" above the crowd.
