THE BEATLES
"LOVE ME DO"
1PR/1RG
LOOK AT THE 1st PRESSING MOTHERS
RED PARLOPHONE
Here we have the very first official release by the BEATLES under their EMI label. This was FIRST recorded recording with Ringo on drums, on the 4th of September 1962. It was a week later, when attempting another recording, Ringo was left to give the maracas a shake on "PS I Love You" and tambourine on "Love Me Do." The recordings with Ringo are therefore identified by the -1N/-1N matrix, whilst the Andy White recording has the suffix of -2N/-2N. It is strange, however, EMI decided to relese the Ringo version before the re-worked (and so called improved..?) Andy White version....couldn't have been much of an improvement afterall.
Release date was the 5th of October 1962.
Respective positions in the various charts back then were:
Disc Weekly: 24
Melody Maker: 21
New Musical Express: 27
New Record Mirror: 17
Record Retailer: 17
The details of this single up for auction:

Matrix numbers Side 2: 7XCE 17145-1N

Mothers/Stampers Side 2: 1 @ 9 O'clock (AGAIN, WOW!) RG @ 3 O'clock
LOVELY early pressing Mothers.
Very Early Tax codes stamped into the run-off at 9 o@clock:
MPZT
This tax code was used between 10th of April 1962 to the 26th of November 1962. VERY SHORT RUN!
Even fewer exist with the transitional MPZT tax in the run-off.
EVEN stranger is that the label has 'PT' on it!!...WOW they really mixed this one up!
The Labels: VG+. They are the lovely deep red colour, but do have a name written in quite faint pen to one side 1 (sue).
"Ardmore & Beechwood LTD" is on both sides.
It DOES have the "Made In Great Britain" statement at 3 O'Clock to both sides.
"Lennon-McCartney" credits.
Vinyl: VG-. Just finished playing both sides through and NO skips, jumps etc. There is some background noise, as you would expect.
The vinyl could do with a professional clean to bring back that lovely shine and will definately reduce the background crackle.
There are quite a few light marks but:
NO SKIPS/STICKS OR JUMPS
They don't make them like this anymore!
Sleeve: EX-. Original 1960's "Diamond" sleeve in superb condition. Still gorgeously bright in colour.
VERY good example of this early ORIGINAL sleeve.
NO WARPING OR DISTORTION OF ANY SORT...LOVELY AND FLAT.
ALL IN ALL THIS IS A FANTASTIC PIECE OF BEATLES HISTORY WITH VERY UNUSUAL TAX CODES AND ALL ORIGINAL PACKAGE-WITH THE ORIGINAL SLEEVE.,,,LOVELY!
