Description

For your consideration, a very rare treat for the vintage record and radio show collector, as well as for Lone Ranger fans. These are original 16-inch acetate transcription discs of The Lone Ranger radio show with labels from WXYZ radio in Detroit, which was the station that created and produced the original Lone Ranger radio show. One disc is labeled Part 1, 5-30-45, record number 1470. The other is labeled Part 2, 1-31-44, record number 216. Because of the dates I think they are two different parts of two different episodes. I'm not sure if the record numbers are the same as program numbers or not. Could just be station catalog numbers. Each side has at least one advertisement for "CheeriOats" cereal, which is what Cheerios were called before they changed the name in 1945. The B-side of each record is blank.

I don't grade records and I don't think it applies in this case. They look good for 70 year-old acetates, however as you can see in the pictures there is a lot of the white acetate disease on them so they'll need a thorough cleaning. I played a little of each and they sound fair but I didn't want to play a lot while they were uncleaned. 33-rpm. One record has some bubbling around the outside edge, but it doesn't reach the grooves. The sleeves are in ok condition. Please keep in mind that you'd need a large record player in order to actually play this; most only accommodate 12" records. I have some other Lone Ranger/other program transcriptions that I'll be selling soon, but these are two of only three I have with actual WXYZ labels.

Items sold as-is so please feel free to ask any and all questions. The shipping price is the actual cost and includes tracking number. Payment or communication is due within 24-hours of auction end. If you need more time to pay that is fine but you must contact me and let me know. Please don't leave me wondering if you're going to pay or ditch. Good luck and happy bidding.
