"Girls Just Want to Have Fun" is a song originally written by Robert Hazard and made famous by singer Cyndi Lauper. It was the first major single released by Lauper as a solo artist and the lead-off single from her debut album She's So Unusual. Lauper’s version gained recognition as a feminist anthem, an award-winning video and a worldwide hit. It has been covered on either an album or in live concert by over 30 other artists.
The single was Lauper's breakthrough hit, remaining in the #2 position on the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks. It remains one of Lauper's signature songs and was a widely popular song during the era of its release, the 1980s. The "Rolling Stone & MTV: '100 Greatest Pop Songs': 1-50", "Rolling Stone: "The 100 Top Music Videos"" and the "VH1: 100 Greatest Videos" lists ranked the song at #22, #39 and #45, respectively. The song received a Grammy Award nomination for Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

"She Bop" is a song by American singer Cyndi Lauper, released as the third single from her album She's So Unusual. It reached number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart in September 1984. Worldwide, the song is her most commercially successful single after "Time After Time", and reached number 46 on the UK Singles Chart and number 6 on the ARIA Singles Chart. "She Bop" was her third consecutive Top 5 on the Hot 100.
The song was considered controversial, as it dealt with the subject matter of masturbation. It was also included on the Parents Music Resource Center's "Filthy Fifteen" list, due to its sexual lyrics; this led to the creation of the Parental Advisory sticker. (Other songs on the "Filthy Fifteen" list included tracks by Madonna, Prince, and AC/DC.) In an interview on The Howard Stern Show, Lauper stated that she recorded the vocals of the song while nude.
Lauper said she wanted little kids to think the song was about dancing, and to understand the real meaning as they got older. She never directly stated in the song what the meaning of the song was, so it could receive airplay.
The single has been released in over 32 variations across the world, the most common being a two track 7" vinyl single (with varying covers) and a two track 12" vinyl single (also with varying covers).

"The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" is a song by American singer Cyndi Lauper. It was released as a single for The Goonies, a 1985 film which was released around the same time as the single. It was her fifth Top 10 single on the Hot 100, her first since "Money Changes Everything".
Before its inclusion on The Essential Cyndi Lauper in 2003, the song never appeared on any of Lauper's albums or the 1994 compilation Twelve Deadly Cyns...and Then Some. Lauper admitted in an interview with Matthew Rettenmund that she hated the song, which was why she had chosen not to include it on her first compilation.
All versions of the UK and Japan edition are considered rare, especially the 12".
The song has been covered by a few artists, such as Bombones, Haruko Momoi, The Advantage, New Found Glory, and Tomoyuki Uchida. The song was featured in several iterations of Konami's Goonies video games, most notably the popular NES game Goonies II. It was also featured as an instrumental version in Pop'n Music 10.

She's So Unusual is the debut studio album by American pop singer-songwriter Cyndi Lauper. Released in 1983 by Portrait Records, the album catapulted Lauper to stardom with such hits as "Girls Just Want to Have Fun", "Time After Time", "She Bop", "All Through the Night", and "Money Changes Everything". All five singles reached the top thirty of the Billboard Hot 100, with first four singles of them becoming Top 5 hits. Lauper thus became the first female singer to have four top five singles on the Hot 100 from one album.
Upon its release, the album received generally positive reviews from music critics. The album earned Lauper several awards and accolades, including two Grammy Awards at the 27th Grammy Awards, one of which was for Best New Artist. She's So Unusual peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 chart and stayed in the chart's top forty for sixty-five weeks. It has sold over 6 million copies in the United States and 16 million copies worldwide. This makes it Lauper's best-selling album to date and one of the best-selling albums of the 1980s decade. The album was the second best-selling album in Canada by a female artist in 1980s, behind, Whitney Houston's Whitney Houston, sold more than 900,000 copies in the country.
When Lauper was a member of the group Blue Angel, many entrepreneurs in the music industry and many critics noted her musical talent. Invitations poured in to record a solo album, and this invitation was accepted in 1982 after Blue Angel failed to achieve commercial success.
The whole album was recorded at Record Plant in New York, between December 1, 1982 to June 30, 1983. The album was produced by Rick Chertoff and William Wittman.
The album ranked at #487 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time in 2003.
