Description
Richard Wagner: Der Ring des Nibelungen- Das Rheingold, Die Walküre, Siegfried, Götterdämmerung
Herbert von Karajan conducting the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
With Vickers, Talvela, Janowitz, Ludwig, Stewart, Brilioth and many more.
German Ed1 DGG stereo pressings issued between the late 60s to 1970.
Four separate boxes with 19LPs altogether.
Walküre (5LPs) & Rheingold (3LPs) have big tulip „Made in Germany“- labels,
Siegfried (5LPs) & Götterdämmerung (6LPs) have first small tulip labels.
The first one to be issued in 1967 was Walküre, followed by Rheingold in ‘68, Siegfried in ‘69 and Götterdämmerung in ‘70.
The slighly differentiating box-designs (no text on back of Walküre, no tulip on spine of Rheingold) are original for the 1st edition pressings.
Dates on the innersleeves perfectly match with the issuing history of the respective volumes.
All box-sets have most likely been bought immediately or shortly after they were issued for the first time.
All booklets have been signed by Karajan on the inside of each booklet.
Most likely during the pre-owners’ attendances at the Salzburg Festival.
Walküre additionally contains a DGG Karajan catalogue from the 1968 Salzburg Festival,
which advertises the then still in progress recordings of the ring.
Only Walküre and Rheingold had been issued at that time.
This might have arbitrarily been placed in the Walküre set instead of in the Rheingold box.
Götterdämmerung aditionally contains a program for Götterdämmerung as played in the 1970 Salzburg Festival,
with an almost identical cast that recorded it for DGG the same year.

A note about my record-grading:
I usually only visually grade the LPs under strong light and I only playgrade them ( i.e. the portions that seem to have signs of usage), if I can't be sure of their actual condition.
If records show stronger signs of soiling I'll professionally clean them (Okki Nokki RCM), but I'm not doing this if it's obviously only dust, as I know that collectors usually prefer their
very own way of record-cleaning.
My goal is to always decribe the records appropriately and I will name every visible and/or audible defect in my detailed description. If regardless of my precautions
you should ever be dissatisfied with the condition of a record, please contact me before leaving negative or neutral feedback to give me the chance to resolve your query.
I'm confident, however, that this will hardly ever be the case. I've been selling records for many years now and so far complaints fortunately have been the utter exception!
