TODAY (2/18) I HAVE PURCHASED ONE OF THE BEST VINYL COLLECTIONS I'VE EVER ACQUIRED - IT BELONGED TO A MAN WHO WORKED IN PROMOTION FOR ATLANTIC RECORDS IN LOS ANGELES FOR 20 YEARS FROM THE LATE 1960S THROUGH THE 1980s - THE COLLECTION CONTAINS ALL SORTS OF PROMOS, PROMO ONLY ITEMS, SEALED LPs, PICTURE DISCS, TEST PRESSINGS, AND AUDIOPHILE PRESSINGS - I'LL BE LISTING TWO ITEMS A DAY FROM THIS COLLECTION FOR A LONG TIME - KEEP WATCHING MY AUCTIONS FOR SOME OF THE BEST ROCK ITEMS I'VE EVER OFFERED!
Here is a choice item for the completist Led Zeppelin collector! This is a lot consisting of SIX ORIGINAL 1979 COPIES - TWO STILL SEALED - OF THE 1979 U.S. SWAN SONG RECORDS LP titled 'In Through The Out Door' from Led Zeppelin, all in their original brown paper bag outer liners. Swan Song Records U.S. catalog number is SS 16002.
The 'In Through The Out Door' LP was issued with six different cover photo variations. The Atlantic Records promotion man from whom I purchased the collection that these LPs came from told me that the six copies of 'In Through The Out Door' LP contained in his collection and on offer here consisted of ALL SIX of the different cover photo variations. As four of the copies came unsealed, I was able to verify that those four copies are each packaged in covers with four different cover photo variations; this can be seen in my accompanying image. As the other two copies are still sealed I am unable to verify with certainty that those two covers are in fact the other two variations - However, there is a very small thin strip of the covers of the two sealed copies that are not covered by their outer brown bags and that can be seen through the shrinkwrap, and what can be seen of those two covers does not appear to correspond to what appears in the same areas on any of the other four covers - So, based on the statements of the promo man and on those observations it does appear probable that the two sealed copies do contain the other two cover variations that are different from the photos that appear on the covers of the four open copies, but again I cannot say with 100% certainty.

The vinyl play surface on one record has a few ripples which are cosmetic only and will not affect play. Condition of all four outer brown bags is VG+, with slits cut into two of the bags and covers indicating promo copies, and with one of the brown bags having a small area at one corner torn away and missing, apparently this occurred when the promo slit was cut into the cover. Condition of all four of the open covers is a high VG+/EX with each cover having a little wear along the edges and on the corners. The two sealed copies are in 100% pristine condition, with the outer brownbags being wrinkled from having been sealed inside the shrinkwrap; the shrinkwrap at two of the corners of one of the sealed copies has small tears, and the covers have a tiny bit of wear at those corners.
This lot would be a choice addition to any completist Led Zeppelin or classic rock record collection! Media mail postage within the United States is $4.72.
