Record conditon: Excellent +++ (plays Excellent ++++)

Labels condition: Spotless (A); Excellent + (B)

When I was producing the ad for Evie Sands' "Take Me For A Little While" last week, I was reminded to dig out another single featuring the name of Trade Martin. This time, he's ensconced in the studio, working with The Sandpipers - and I don't mean the choir-like ensemble who hit with "Guantanamera". Martin, who's "She Put The Hurt On Me" is very high on my wants list, was no slouch when sitting in the arranger's chair either, and the result on the top side is a cross between soul and doo-wop. One of the highlights is a male bass voice burbling throughout, while the female lead delivers a eulogy on how good it feels to be young (distant memories for most!) There's a spoken break, a hook straight out of "The 'In' Crowd", and a steady mid-tempo rhythm that got Stafford punters begging for more. The B-side is a real nostalgia trip, and sounds like an out-take from an Ad Libs' session. The spoken intro and booming bass voice are pure Popcorn, but the mid-tempo dancer that follows is straight out of "The Boy From New York City".

The single was released on a one-off subsidiary of Kama Sutra, named Kismet after the Turkish word for destiny.

Both sides have full youtube postings for the uninitiated.

The styrene is virtually spotless, and both sides play like new.

The A-side label is immaculate. The B-side label has just started to bubble under.

There are no stickers, sticker marks, tears, or writing.

This record has been played on both sides to verify condition, but there's a full money-back guarantee on all my sales, and I'll refund anyone who isn't totally captivated.
