We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original 1969 LAMINATED GATEFOLD superior British first press from 50 years ago of the highly rated and legendary female UK folk-underground UK collectible
For many British folk-rock collectors (Spriguns, Pentangle, Fairport Convention, etc.) this LP is one of the greatest albums of all time.
side A is a dark song cycle (ala Nick Drake vibes) detailing the decline of traditional English folk customs due to the slaughter of a whole generation of men during the First World War.
Side B is an outstanding array of weaving folk-rock with distinct British feel from start to end.

The album is built upon the untutored, but engaging and honest vocals of Shirely Collins and the pipe organ by her sister Dolly plus a gathering of medieval instruments such as crumhorns, sackbuts, cornetts, and rackets that are the forerunners of today's modern string and wind instruments. These instruments sound at once familiar and other worldly - unlike anything else you'll ever hear. well, unless you're into medieval music.
Some of the songs here are absolutely heartbreaking - in particular, during Side A's medley, The Blacksmith, Our Captain Cried and Lowlands Away (not sure if they're the actual titles of the specific songs though), and least not forget The Yowes and God Dog are truly astonishing.
Still stands up after some 50 years as one of the most important, and greatest, folk albums of the late British sixties.

CONDITION: The cover: rated: M- TOP COPY, very hard to find clean like this, or at all. The LAMINATED and very fragile gatefold cover has been in careful hands per the original owner who had it personally signed around 1970 in England. The predominately white gatefold is sharp looking and will serve nicely in virtually anyone's important collection. There are no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... 50 years of age signed UK '69 original collectible!
