A superb Stereo example from Shirley & Dolly Collins, a UK Album Release from 1969. The Vinyl LP is on the EMI/Harvest Record Label.

Shirley Elizabeth Collins MBE (born 5 July 1935) is a British folksinger who was a significant contributor to the English Folk Revival of the 1960s and 1970s. She often performed and recorded with her sister Dolly, whose accompaniment on piano and portative organ created unique settings for her sister's plain, austere singing style. Shirley Collins and her older sister, Dolly, grew up in the Hastings area of East Sussex in a family which kept alive a great love of traditional song. Songs learnt from their grandfather and from their mother's sister, Grace Winborn, were to be important in the sisters' repertoire throughout their career. On leaving school, at the age of 17, Collins enrolled at a teachers' training college in Tooting, south London. However, in London she also involved herself in the early folk revival and in 1954, at a party hosted by Ewan MacColl, she met Alan Lomax, the famous American folk collector, who had moved to Britain to avoid the McCarthy witch-hunt, which was then raging in America. Lomax and Collins made a folk song collecting trip in the Southern states that lasted from July to November 1959, and resulted in many hours of recordings, featuring performers such as Almeda Riddle, Hobart Smith, and Bessie Jones, and is noted for the discovery of Mississippi Fred McDowell.

This is the rare first issue Folk album with first issue matrices, and Sold in UK Record Label text.

Both record labels are in superb Near Mint condition, beautiful bright and undamaged record labels with no centre spindle lines visible. You will see in the scans below that both record labels show mild areas of fading, this is nothing major.

Side 1 stamped matrix: SHVL 754 A-2 and Side 2: SHVL 754 B-2.
Side 1 Mother Stamper 1 R and Side 2: 1 R.
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in beautiful undamaged Near Mint condition, stunningly clean, bright Vinyl surfaces to both sides, there are no scratches or scuffs, with just a couple of light hairlines.

The LP play’s without any major faults, all that can be heard is light crackle on a couple of tracks, otherwise a really nice Folk sound quality.

The Vinyl LP comes in it’s original EMI/Harvest Inner bag, and is protected in it’s original and superb front and back laminated Gatefold, E.J.Day Ltd London sleeve. This sleeve is a superb example without any damage and is in Excellent Plus to Near Mint condition. There are no seam splits or tears, just a couple of mild corner bumps. The front panel still retains it’s gloss shine.

The inside gatefold is super clean with no yellowing, the reverse panel also retains it’s gloss shine and shows just mild LP storage signs.

This is a really superb example of this original first issue1969 Stereo Album from Shirley & Dolly Collins.
