DESCRIPTION
An original 1965 ‘promo’ pressing of this very rare debut Beat vocal single from then Sydney outfit The Sunsets (previously Newcastle surf-instrumental group The 4 Strangers) who two years on evolved into legendary hippie-cult band Tamam Shud.The Sunsets were one of the finest and most successful bands to emerge from this period, playing at all the big venues such as The Star Club, Sunset Disco and Surf City. Their 1967 soundtracks to the surf classic films ‘Life In The Sun’ and ‘Hot Generation’ are still much sought after 45’s …the latter fetching $hundreds$ on the open market.
The break-up of Tamam Shud in 1972 saw Lindsay Bjerre and Peter Baron appear in new band Albatross while The Sunsets & T/Shud drummer Dannie Davidson joined guitarists Dennis Wilson and Tim Gaze to form the backbone of stellar prog-psych outfit Kahvas Jute.
A terrific single and an integral part of the 60’s Aussie beat and later prog-rock scene.
