Description

Two sides recorded in Chicago in December 1928 with Georgia Tom Dorsey on piano and Tampa Red on guitar. Harry Jones is listed as one of the two singers on Tight Like That, and in their Blues discography Godrich & Dixon note that Georgia Tom claimed that he was Papa Too Sweet, although Georgia Tom's voice sounds nothing like that of Papa. The discographers postulated that Tom was intentionally singing in a different tone to hide his identity. Why? I don't know...This is also an unusual record because of the label: a rare record to begin with, but every other copy I've ever seen has a black OKeh label. This one is blue and gold....I'm an experienced 78 collector/seller: everything on my end will be done properly to ensure your satisfaction.  I grade conservatively and according to VJM standards.
