Description
So I was more of a Big Gulp kinda kid than the Slurpee sort, but I thought this was hilarious when I got ahold of it back in the 80s. While it was apparently released in 1970s, the 45 rpm record features a 60s dance groove on one side "Dance the Slurp" -- promoted as "The wildest ... the kookiest ... the grooviest .. the Slurpiest." The slurping straw sounds serves as the rhythm section.
The flip side features "Strange Things that Happen to the People Who Slurp Icees at 7-Eleven," a faux man-on-the-street interview format comedy piece.
This track went on to become famous around 1999 when DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist built their legendary 'Brainfreeze' mix around it, resulting the ultimate mix tribute to the funk 7-inch. They used some of the original artwork for the design of the vinyl / cd releases.
This 45 hasn't been played in more than 30 years. It worked back then, but some of the grooves do look a bit dirty. It should play fine after a good clean.
